A letter from Jason Wilson, co lead pastor
Dear Citylight Family,
Since its launch in 2019, Citylight Kansas City has served and loved the people of the Kansas City area. God has used me and Eric Carpenter along with our families and the people of Citylight KC to make a Kingdom impact here and we are grateful for that impact.
Recently, our team has had a sense that the work we were called to do in and through Citylight Kansas City was coming to a close. God affirmed this over the past few months within our church, and so with that, Citylight Kansas City is pushing pause indefinitely on December 31, 2023. We will no longer gather as a church but rather, scatter out into other Kingdom work throughout the Kansas City area.
We are thankful that we get to do this out of love, hope, and support rather than from a place of dysfunction, animosity, or resentment. Personally, it’s not what I dreamed of when planting this church five years ago, but God has revealed his goodness and peace throughout this process. The Gospel doesn’t depend on ministry success or failure but always and forever it depends on Jesus.
I want to thank everyone who has served, supported, and walked alongside us these past few years especially the pastors in our Family of Churches. Doug Stevens and Erick Whigham at Citylight Council Bluffs served us by guiding us as advisory team members and through their friendships and Eric Carpenter for walking with me from the beginning of this journey. It has been a privilege and honor to serve in the Citylight Family.
Would you please pray for:
· The church and staff to transition well
· To see God at work…past, present, future
· To continue to grow in our love for Him, for God’s people, and the community He has placed us in.
Thank you for everything.
For His Glory,
Jason Wilson
